I believe lots of you have heard of Vista new value-added-feature into its Premium version, non-Vista users are, of course, not invited into this treat. We, majority of us, using Windows XP can have so-called XP Dreamscene also! Click here to search for some clips in Youtube on Vista Dreamscene if you still don’t know.

We can also enjoy stunning video based as our desktop background, enjoying the same feature that are only applicable to those who paid a premium price for Premium version of Vista [yeah~!] and having to worry a lot about drivers and programs compatibility issue.

First step first, download some dreamscene ( HD videos) from here.

Secondly, get yourself VLC Player or BSPlayer.

Ok, now you got all the recipes needed. Now, throws all the videos that you want into the player, make it loop forever by selecting ‘repeat-all’ and play it!

If you are using BSPlayer, right click on the player, select Video then choose ‘Desktop-mode’ or simply press ‘D’ to switch to desktop mode. In case you can’t find the loop button, click on the ‘Video’ at the right of the player then the rotate symbol will appear for you.

If you are using VLCPlayer, select Video -> Wallpaper from the menu bar. To make it loop forever, go to View -> Playlist. The playlist window will pop up, select the second icon which is ‘Repeat-all’. You may add/remove your videos from there as well.

I have to warn you that although we can achieve the same effects Vista’s DreamScene does, there are drawbacks that need you to think twice! It is like watching videos like you normally do, but making it running forever only. It consumes [quite a lot of] CPU time and memory. You will notice a slowdown in your system. At the end of the day, you need to choose between fancy desktop or speedy dull computer. Happy decorating!

Extra added Note:  BSPlayer can play high resolution videos better than VLC. VLC seems to be having hard time playing them as video turns out to be slideshow of pictures…LOLX
