A day at a Goverment Department

18 Oct

I paid a visit to a Goverment Department in Seberang Jaya. It was 3:50pm, I was lining up at a counter. There was a Ah Pek behind me who wanted to do something same as me as well. Before it came to my turn, the lady at the counter kept on saying “counter close at 4″ and kept repeating it herself. I was lucky enough to get my stuff done before 4. I noticed that the her work pace is calibrated such a way that I would be the last person she could serve just before the needle hit 4. The Ah Pek behind me hit the counter when the clock ticked to 4. He was, however, got rejected by the lady even after the Ah Pek appealed to her. The Ah Pek appealed that he came from somewhere far and don’t want to make the visit twice. Furthermore, it takes some 5 minutes to get the thing done.

It was 4 o’clock and the lady refused to work anymore. Few minutes after she left her seat, she packed up and left the office!! Its some 1 hour before her shift actually ends. Way to go civil service in Malaysia. How much have we progressed after 50 years?

This is just another small open secret to be told, there are many complains and rants about this department that deals with public most!
