This may be my first emotional posting after year long posting “rational” or emotionless post. This post might bring down the popularity or readership of this website or myself but I just got to write it.
I’m particularly disturbed with the abused usage of status message and visibility mode of some of my friends in my messenger list.
The busy sign
If you are so busy but you care to message me to just chit chat, then it shows that you are not BUSY at all. So why do you put that status when you are not at all. If you putting it to deter people from messaging you, you get it!
If you are putting it out of the concern of preventing those people you don’t like to message you, delete them off! Don’t be chicken branded.
The buzz and nudge
Type your message first before sending nudge or buzz. This real function of this feature is to try to get the receiver’s attention if your message didnt get replied back. I hate it when there are people just buzzing around without bothering to type a single word. Are you some kinda attention seeker?
The away mode
This applies particularly in MSN messenger. I got a friend who is forever in Away mode. Reason that I was told is that he/she do not want to let others down as messages don’t get replied back (that he/she might really Away). Anyway, if you were to use the excuse, why don’t you make use of the designated function in the messenger that shows you as Away after particular idle period. Same thing goes to YM.
The hollowman mode
Simple. I guess you got what I want to say. If you talk to people in invisible mode, how do the others think? Honored cause he/she willing to chat with you? I personally feel very disturbed with this kind of situation. The messenger created to work bi-directionally, not the other way!
In a nutshell, make good use of all the modes/ status messages, you will please everyone and surely cheer up their way by not telling lies. (I’m a little emotionally unstable now :|)
