Free wifi in Penang

I came across this website today which is under the Ministry of Energy, Water, and Communication of Malaysia, MyBroadband.

To cut the story short, you can find free wifi spots around the island of Penang and Seberang Jaya through this website which is initiated by the ministry. Most importantly, it is free. There are more than 120 wifi spots listed under the website at the moment which is made possible by the collaboration of the government, local community, and the Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

On the other hand, there is a plan called Penang i-Land 2010 Masterplan where it is aimed to make Penang a fully connected island by year 2010.

Hi there, I’m having no luck accessing the website at http://www.mybroadband.gov.my/

I’m not too sure how things will be since the we need to use that particular website to log in to use the free wifi at its hotspot zone.

Let’s hope that it will be up soon then.

PS: You can register for a new account on the spot at the hotspot.
