Airport photos from Foster + Partners (the designer)
Beijing new terminal 3 which is larger than all terminals in Heathrow added together opens at the end of February. The new terminal comes with third runway and new motorway to cope with the increasing traffic from Olympics event coming this year end.
Renowned British architect Norman Foster designed the airport to appear like a giant dragon, with a long tail and triangular-shaped skylights that are meant to resemble the scales of the beast.
When it is fully operational, it will be able to handle 1590 take-offs and landings every day carrying about 208,000 passengers.
