Canon EOS 500D has been announced today in Netherland! (See press release at DPReview.com).
It’s completely a mouth watering package where it include Full HD video recording.
To satisfy your excitement more, here’s a quick spec comparison chart.

The new Canon EOS 500D shares the same high resolution LCD monitor but it offers slight more viewing angle. The Canon 50D does better providing bigger viewfinder though. In term of continuous drive mode, 50D performs much better than 500D’s 3.4fps.
There’s pretty much a neat package Canon has to offer here. With the video recording mode, Canon surely will kick some asses stealing market share of Nikon D90 while mainting the share pie for its upper range model, Canon 50D, by not intruding into it’s region too much!
Let’s wait for its pricing and we will see how well it competes among others.
!! UPDATE 26 March 2009 !!:
Hands-on review at imaging resource
From the sample photos that I have seen across the Internet so far, it’s still pretty much clear even at ISO3200. Canon 500D shares the same high performance sensor used in the higher range model, Canon 50D.
Pricing wise, the body itself would be priced around USD800 (RM 2900) . Top up another 100USD for the kit-lens (Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS).
It will be only available from May 2009 onwards.

Just wondering whether Full HD video recording is suitable for a dslr camera. Its like trying to replace Camcorder functions.
