Your Streamyx line drives you crazy again when you try to access your much needed every day’s dose of perezhilton or gutterpost. Your connection speed has been this slow as ever and you decided to call up the infamous unfriendly Streamyx helpline hoping that they will at least, bother to issue a new complain report for you and hopefully, in the end of the day, they would cherish your browsing experience.
Of course, you will be asked to check your splitter, modem, this and that but I’ll skip that. You will be eventually asked to perform bandwidth speed test. They would instruct you to perform the test at their official website. Here’s how the result would look like normally.
I’m running on a 1.5Mbps line and getting 1312kbps (1.3Mbps), that’s pretty good and there’s really nothing to complain about. The helpdesk would argue that I’m getting reasonable fast speed and there’s no need to call them nor filing a complain! Case close? Hell no!
Making a bandwidth test is highly location dependent, you are actually testing by downloading and uploading file to a specific server which in the above case, you are “talking” to one of many Streamyx’s server in Kuala Lumpur. Of course, for a server that resides within Streamyx network, it will be un-amazingly fast.
There are many bandwidth speed testing websites but I’ll just stick to speedtest.net here, you can perform test with many servers across the globe, let’s start with the one in Penang.
Download speed at 1.31Mbps, not bad at all!
Thing is, you are surfing to servers that resides outside the country, mainly, from USA. Simply perform another test with server in USA and you will see why. Download speed stands at 0.14Mbps. Now you see something.
Talk nicely to the helpdesk guy, tell them your international browsing speed is horrible. Get them to check if you are getting a bad IP or something, anything!!!

Stop complain anymore.. haha.. mine 1 is 2 digits – 31kbps @______@llll damn it. some more i called to streamyx helpline more than 3 times, but my connection speed STILL remain the same.

hahaha.. hmm, if your LOCAL server bandwidth test is bad as well you can complain to streamyx, no problem! its absolutely within your power domain to do so!
what more can telekom do if they can’t even provide good “home-net”, “streamyx-LAN”, “malaysia-giant-local-area-network”.. hopelesss

Streamyx starting to cheatting our money now, we pay the price never can get the speed! same like me pay RM88 get slow than 56k Modem Speed and cannot Discount. This new service start from “2008 December”

Get Streamyx Economy package for RM 2232 per month.
Hey, I have subscribe the stramyx RM 20 package n my monthly bill is RM500++. The Package include a 10 hour internet usage n charge RM0.05 per minute thereafter. The package seem very interesting for people who use a bit but actually it was not so. If, someone who use really little n forget to switch off the modem like me, the U really get caught by the trick of the package. The charges is base on the modem U switch on but not the signal get by the computer wifi adapter.
There are hidden story behind it. If we didn’t switch off the modem for a month, the month bill will be RM2232. Wow. That package is not the economy package but the “Loanshark Package”. That mean that is the 33 months bill for people who subscribe RM 68 package.
For me, I really ANGRY n upset with the streamyx. My advice to all is Dont suibscribe to Streamyx RM20 package at all. If U really need internet, choose other package or other internet provider in the market which seem to be very interesting.
