Second Pulau Tikus kayak trip

Group photo after returning from Pulau Tikus

I would have forgotten when I last went to Pulau Tikus if there’s date printed on the photo. This time, I went with my company’s colleagues.

As usual, we booked for 3 hours for RM24. The journey to the island was quite a tough one as we were moving against the current. It took us a good 45 minutes to reach there but just a mere 27 minutes to get back from the island. I guess current does play a big role here.

Pulau Tikus

The sea was on low tide that morning. And for this, we were able to land on the sandy area which made life a lot easier compared to the last time I went there. We had to land on the bumpy rocky area the last time around. It was definitely much more dangerous than landing on sandy area. Thank god.

As the tide is still low that time, we were able to explore around the island on foot. Juggling through the rocky terrain is what we mostly encountered as what we can see from the map on the left.

We even met some people who took boat to the island to chill and fish.

Surely a good experience kayak-ing there sometimes. Oh ya, after ‘conquering’ the island for the second time. I would like to give some tips if you are planning a trip there anytime soon!

Tips

  • Sunblock. Yes, definitely needed.
  • Sunglasses. If you are not OK with the strong blinding sunlight.
  • Waterproof container. For you to keep important stuff.
  • Sweet/candy are recommended.
  • Drinking water. Critical.
  • Complete set of spare clothes.
  • Vinegar. In case of jellyfish attack! (You can borrow from the kayak rental office)
  • And lastly, you may want to go on low tide. You will enjoy much better there and a lot safer.

So this year, 2009, we are not set to miss 12 races live. No improvement from last year’s RTM broadcasting at all.

In 2006, 8TV showed all races LIVE!

In 2007, RTM2 delays most of the races (only 7 shown live) and furthermore, suspending the airing halfway if it clashes with their prime time news.

Watching the sports on Astro ESPN Star Sports does not much good as well, plenty of people complained about their NOT-knowledgeable commentator and ESPN does NOTHING to fix this situation (plenty of people from LowYat.net forum sent in email to complain too, me included). Never mind about their less-than-satisfied commentary but they even shows MORE ADS than free channel. This is simply NOT acceptable as we are paying money for the channel!

In 2008, it continues broadcasting again with no improvement! Now in 2009, we are not moving forward, as expected.

What’s with this country that host one of the F1 races? What’s with this country’s petroleum company that throws million of ringgit in F1 team partnership? What’s with this country anyway?

F1 Italy 2008 review

Magnificent! Superb! Youngest driver Sebastian Vettel has just became the youngest driver to win a grandprix. He was 12.5s away from second place man, Kovalainen. One year younger than record holder Alonso! :-)

He has became the youngest driver to get a pole yesterday as well! Away from the dead boring European race at Valencia, Nurburing is so far the best enjoyable race ever but no exception for this Italian grandprix as well!

Starting from pole, Vettel kept up the performance all the way, driving superbly and brought the car to the chequered flag safely and at first place! :D:D

Yes, Ferrari won the home grandprix, not the Ferrari we always see but Ferrari’s customer car, Toro Rosso!

On the other hand, Massa reduced the point gap to 1 behind Hamilton. They finished at sixth and seventh respectively. Kimi was not doing great throughout the race lacking grip finished only ninth, just a place away from point.

Vettel finishes ahead of all the big names Massa, Kimi, Hamilton. How cool is that??

Yes, Peter Sauber is great at discovering new talent!!

Exciting race ahead,2pm GMT+8 at Sepan, Malaysia tomorrow!

p/s: Please, yee mei mei, do not flame me and please visit my blog often :P

Just added, a sweet letter from a Lowyat forumer, SeeD

Dear RTM
You give us live Formula 1 in Malaysia, I thank you for that. But you have advertisement on Qualifying 3 !!! LOL
Your channel is a waste of time. Why bother have it in Malaysia? Go build your stupid RTI instead, Radio Televisyen Indonesia.
Let 8TV or TV3 do the job. You guys are incompetent workers. Just quit your jobs already.
I don’t know why you all still have the face to stay online in Malaysia.
Incompetent workers.

and more…

LOL, comment on the lack of live broadcasting lah. Say that being ONE of the several countries to hold an F1 race in the country, the broadcast should be more comprehensive.

Secondly, the timing of the advertising should be done better and more tastefully.

Thirdly, KNNCCB!! XD

and even more..

RTM is terrible at screening live formula 1 coverage. Audio problems, commercial during the last phase of the race which is the most exciting part( WE MISS ALL THE ACTION ), No drivers interview after the race, No live screening for Australian GP.

RTM please buck up or give MEDIA PRIMA back their licence to screen formula 1

Terrible terrible RTM

-Ronaldo johnn-

this isnt enough yet..

RTM terlalu mengecewakan dalam siaran langsung Formula One sejak tahun lepas.
Tahun ini lebih teruk.

Tiada sesi kelayakan untuk GP Australia.
Hari perlumbaan pula…’potong’ sana sini.

Sesi kelayakan GP Malaysia tadi pula.
Sudah la audio teruk….iklan lagi…kemudian…sesi sudah tamat dengan baki 15 saat.
Apa ni?

Esok, hari perlumbaan….5 minit laluan untuk berita.
2 kali pula tu….10 minit jadinya.
Banyak aksi boleh berlaku dalam masa 10 minit.

Kalau tak mampu atau ‘malas’…beri sahaja pada 8TV.
Mereka sangat ‘rajin’ dan serius.

Apa guna anjurkan GP Malaysia tapi komitmen hampas.

Kritikan ikhlas dari peminat Formula One.

and you may want to send one or two email to our beloved Tv1 at programtv@rtm.net.my

Malaysia Boleh, always few steps (ahead? no.. your head!) at the back!

Stunning F1 Qualifying of the season

3 minutes to the end of the final round of qualifying of Spain Grand pix 2007. Kimi is chasing Hamilton from the back. Hamilton managed to clock the fastest, gained P1. In just a few seconds later, the one chasing his back all the time, Kimi clocked faster than him hence snatched P1 from Hamilton.

Well, I taught its all end for the day but Alonso later on posted 3 tenth even faster than Kimi snatching the pole position away. Huulaa, the crowd cheer and jump like donkey all around the grand pix. But, wait a moment… Massa come crosses the line….. wooops… even faster than Alonso… within that few seconds, both McLaren and Ferrari engaged in the second round of battle. All 4 of them go back to get fresh rubber to make another hot final intense qualifying round. The pit lane suddenly become so busy as all the pit lane crews getting into their positions to wait for their machines to come by, thats including some other teams too.

Highly tensed second round starts right after they finished the warm up lap after getting their fresh rubber. In this, Hamilton managed to retain the position ahead of Kimi again. Kimi will be chasing the back of Hamilton again… LOLZ… Massa and Alonso at different part of the track position or still in the pit when Kimi and Hamilton discharged from the pit stop.

This time, Kimi is just 6/100 faster than Hamilton and most importantly about how the 2 cars behind perform… Alonso crosses the line getting the P1 and Massa from the back crosses the line few seconds later again steal the pole position away. I bet the whole Spaniard crowd cannot sleep well tonight. Wahahahahaa.. I like it when you do it that well..

In my opinion, I do not like Massa to be at the pole position. I afraid that he will repeat the hero to zero drama back then when racing in Malaysia. I do hope Kimi would be the one sitting in the very first box of the line up. Anyway, good show ahead tomorrow and all the best to the red cars!!

Line up for tomorrow’s race:

Postion Name LapTime
1 Felipe Masssa 1:21:421
2 Fernando Alonso 1:21:451
3 Kimi Raikonnen 1:21:723
4 Lewis Hamilton 1:21:785
5 Robert Kubica 1:22:253
6 Jarno Trulli 1:22:324
7 Nick Heidfield 1:22:389
