This is the very first time I step my foot on Sungai Palas Boh tea plantation field. It was a chaotic moment squeezing through the traffic up the highland and into the tea field in the long weekend. Traveling from point A to B that usually takes a 10minutes becomes a good devastating 1 hour. But never mind, the scenery really pay off!

This is my first time I created HDR Panorama too. There’s actually 3 variations made in processing these HDR panoramic. Tell me which one you like. Personally I love the first in the collection.

Hope you enjoy my collection on the tea field this time.

PS: Photos found here are released under Creative Common lisense. You may use them for personal purposes. Just give a credit/link back later on. Cheers.

Yes! You got it right! Smokehouse Cameron Highlands is a place where every photo bug must stop-by for a picture or two. We went there for a quick snap shots before going to get our much anticipated steamboats. Smokehouse is popular among photographers for its colonial English style buildings. See the picture itself and you will know why.

Apart from that, I got harsh treatment from the hotel when I walked in to check out the ambiance of the restaurant. Seconds after I got in, a lady says “Sorry this is for patrons only”. Without much thinking, I just walked off. Needless to waste my time on this.

Even if I do not have the intention to dine in there, the hotel shouldn’t treat its potential customers this way. No way. And hell no I will ever dine or stay in this hotel. This reviews speak itself.

New operator

Seng, is the new boss operating the restaurant now. Few restaurant operators had rented this spot over the few years (partly due to high cost of rental or charging too expensive, I think).

My family has already know the boss before this as he operated at somewhere else before moving to this new spot.

What’s cooking?

Popular dishes from this restaurants include Seafood otak otak in Coconut shell and Tofu with Anchovy (ikan bilis) and vegetable. (see pic)

Where?

Look for Permandangan Indah Enterprise, it’s located at the top of the hill on the way up to Balik Pulau from Paya Terubong/Relau. Along the way up, you will see an ample space with some stalls where you can do some sight-seeing over looking Balik Pulau (See map for exact location)
For booking/ more info, you can call 012 5646858 (Seng)

This place was hit by Tsunami back in 2004. Some lost their lives.

Anyway, as you can see, the main economy generation of this village is through fishing. There are some fishmonger stalls located just beside the pier. Locals often come here to hunt for cheap and fresh seafood. My mum often come here to shop for fishes too.

Last week I took a motorcycle ride up the hill traveling from Balik Pulau to Air Itam on an unusual route.

Talking about the route, it is usually taken by me and my friends during the 九王爷 festive week (falls on 9th month of Chinese lunar calender) by foot to a Chinese temple called 清觀寺. It is usually a 2 hours journey on foot from Balik Pulau up till the temple. I will try to post up photos taken around that temple later.

I have google-ed abit on 九王爷, If you would like to know more about this festive event, check it at http://forum.photopintu.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5873

And here’s some brief description about 清觀寺 temple found in Wikimapia

A Taoism Temple for the god of “Nine Emperors”. It was built on a hill top in 1890 (this hill is known locally as ‘Cheng Jee Chan’- literally meaning 1200 steps of stone stairways leading to the hill shrine). A festival / praying ceremony is held consecutively on the first nine days of the 9th Month in Lunar / Chinese Calendar every year. The climax is on the midnight of the 9th day where the worshipers send the deities back to heaven…

宝天宫 Bao Tian Gong Chinese Temple (HDR)

宝天宫 Bao Tian Gong Chinese Temple (HDR)

Going back to the topic itself, I went to another temple called 宝天宫. It is located somewhere 2km away from 清觀寺 measured in straight line (Obviously, it is not that near as you can imagine in real life up the hill). I don’t know much about this temple but for one thing I’m freaking sure. It offers great view of Balik Pulau from there! :D

Balik Pulau (HDR)

This is where the temple is located.

This is probably the best place you can find in Penang with lots of green, far away from the hustle bustle of the big city like Georgetown. Gosh, Balik Pulau just got its first traffic light about 2 years ago. See how traffic-free it is :D.

Geographically, it is located on the south west part of the Penang island. Most of the people here often commute to work at other places like in the industrial area in Bayan Lepas, at the south east part of the island.

These shots are taken at the top of the hill along Jalan Tun Sardon. This is the major link connecting Balik Pulau to the rest of the island.

Head on to Wiki to find out more about my beloved hometown, Balik Pulau

Map shown below shows the spot where I took all the shots! Enjoy!
