Fuel Price dropped 10 cents again

16 Dec

I’m sure most of us can recall the fuel subsidy comparison figures placed on fuel stations long long time ago. Some of them have been scrapped already because they have become irrelevant these days. Anyway, cheers to Malaysians again for a further 10 cents deduction in fuel price effectively today.

Here’s a simple way on how to calculate fuel price so that you know how much you are paying against the actual fuel price in US.

First of all, get the latest fuel price per gallon in USA. So, if it says… 150.0 cents (1.50 dollar) per gallon…
1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters

1 U.S. Dollar = RM 3.56

Price per liter = 1.50 x 3.56 / 3.78541178 = RM 1.41

Kuala Lumpur skyline

11 Sep

I took this photo below with Sigma 18-200 with 15 seconds shutter and at around f/11 with 4 degrees apart for each photo. Combined with PTGui later on. If you can check from the map below. The camera is looking down south.

HINT: Click on the photo to get super duper big resolution. :D:D

Panorama of Kuala Lumpur. Overlooking gombak and its surrounding area

Panorama of Kuala Lumpur. Overlooking gombak, setapak, wangsa maju

For this, I decided to use Canon 10-22mm set around 15mm with 30 seconds shutter at Tv Mode. With such long shutter, I expected the camera will use small aperture thus I did not need to be worry about the depth of field achieved. From the map, it is actually looking at North-West

The map below shows where I took the panorama from. It’s taken from a high-rise residential building along Jalan Genting Klang near Tasik Danau.

What you need to take these panorama?

A tripod is needed, vital! Camera with lens is needed too, obviously. Technically, overlap at least 60% is good to ensure you won’t lose linkage between each set later to produce a good panorama. And…. a stool!

I was shooting from the emergency staircase and the wall is quite high. I needed a stool to stand on it in order to get enough height to control the camera. Life is more fun and better with this little but important tool. Thanks Wendy for that!

ShoutOut outing: Gua Tempurung

06 Apr
IMG_5199

Gua Tempurung, Perak

Gua Tempurung located just about 10km away from the Gopeng toll exit. Its very easy to get there out the highway exit as there is clear indication of signboard leading to it.

There are many packages available to visit the cave. Amongst all, Grand Tour is the one that covers the most part of it which will costs you a good RM 22. You will be assigned to a guide who will lead you along the 4 hours plus journey.

Important Tips on taking the tour:

  • Wear dark colored clothes, you don’t want to expose your sexy body figure (girls) and you do not want the pain of washing mud covered light colored clothes. Of course, bring spare clothes to change after the drill.
  • Bring your own soap/shampoo if you do not intend to buy from the “bath house”. There’s a paid toilet/shower room facility near the ticketing counter.
  • Torchlight is a must. You can still rely on others but its highly recommended that you bring your own.
  • Wear 3 quarters pant or longer to cover your knee. You will have hard time crawling on low ceiling places later on and you don’t want the pain on your knee pressing on the rocky surface.
  • As you need to crawl and soak yourself wet at some part of the journey, it’s ideal to travel light and bring water-proof plastic bag/container to keep your precious stuff like wallet and cameras. If you are planning to bring a DSLR, please be extra careful due to its size and weight. (And always remember, DSLR are not waterproof not really water resistant unless you got yourself a waterproof casing.)
  • Bring some sweets if not some buns, just in case.
  • Oh yes, drinking water is essential!
